exe file with would be Windows Command Prompt (CMD).ġ) Go to "C:\Windows\System32" and Copy the program named "cmd.exe".Ģ) Go to the installation location of your Steam games which is:ģ) Open each game's folder (the ones you want to open in the background)Ĥ) Rename the game's Main Executable file and add an "_" to the end of its name.ĥ) Paste "cmd.exe" and rename it as the game's executable file.Ħ) Launch the game through Steam by clicking "Play"ħ) Do the steps above for as many games as you like and open them as the same time through Steam.Ĩ) When you're done idling, swap the CMD.exe with the read game executable to be able to play the game again.

You can replace any game's executable file with a small program and launch that through Steam instead, Steam will think the actual game is open and count it as playtime. Here's the trick to do it while using virtually no resources! You can increase your playtime by leaving multiple games open in the background whenever you're using your PC, but doing so will consume a lot of RAM/CPU resources even though they're all in the background.

You can do that by leaving more than one game open in the background, as Steam counts the playtime separately for each game and adds them together in order to calculate the Total Playtime! Here's an example: While 2 weeks consist of 336 hours, it is possible to accumulate (collect) more than 336 hours and show it on your profile. Steam shows your Total Playtime in the past 2 weeks on Your Profile.
